Universal Truth Part 02

Universal Truth Part 02

Our lives are like a water drop kept on the grass, and it gets dried out with the light of the sun. “It will not exist anymore. Our lives are like a waterfall. A waterfall has never fallen slowly, and our lives also rapidly go towards death. Our lives are like a bully who is out to kill. The bull is reaching for death with every step

Therefore, patrons, life is such a thing. Lord Buddha preached that nobody can get rid of death, even by going to the infinite sky. You cannot get rid of death, even by going to the middle of the ocean. You cannot get rid of death, even by going to a cave in a mountain. Wherever you go in the world, death is not far away. That is the truth. It happens at every moment. At the end of every day, every week, every month, and every year, we have reached our death. Every moment we passed and every step we took brought us closer to death. This life is reaching towards death, and this is the third week of that life. Our lives are going towards death without us knowing it, though we met today. This is just another meetup on this journey that goes towards death. So, patrons, what are we learning now? We are learning about universal truths. In another way, we can say that we are learning the absolute truth. As you know, we keep a dummy human image ("Pabaya") in the paddy fields.

A bird sees this dummy and thinks about it as a real human being. So, is this scene correct or not? It is a mistaken identification. Patrons, We are also not different from such a bird. We see a house. However, is there a house after breaking out and smashing it? Until we wake up and go to sleep, we see houses, vehicles, roads, and people. Do they still exist after breaking down? However, can we see such things? Yes. We can see. Therefore, there is no difference between the things we see and the things that birds see. We are also like birds. There is no difference. So, we are learning about the universal truth of not seeing the world as the bird sees the dummy human image. We are learning to see the exact truth. If one day, a bird can come on top of the dummy human's head, then that bird is a clever one. Then that bird gets to know that there is no human, and the bird will identify it just like a dummy of a human being. We say "universal truth" for such learning like that. In the first article, we learned about the

the history of Lord Buddhas' preaching about the exact truth.

We learned about eight exact truths. What are those eight truths? There is "earth-element (Patawi-dhathuwa)" in very subtle status, and it is a thing in this world that cannot be broken down or divided. "Water-element (Apo-dhatuwa)", "Fire-element (Thejo-dhatuwa)", "Wind-element (Wayo-dhatuwa)", "Colours (Warna)", "Odor (Smells)", "Taste (Rasa)" and "Nutrition (Oja)" are also there in that status. I have not taught about "nutriment (Oja)" yet. This nature, which cannot be broken down or divided, is named as the "Original/Pure Eight" (Suddhashtakaya). Therefore, patrons, there are eight universal truths here that cannot be broken down or divided. What are those things? "Water-element (Apo-dhatuwa)", "Fire-element (Thejo-dhatuwa)", "Wind-element (Wayo-dhatuwa)", "Colors (Warna)", "Odor (Smells)", "Taste (Rasa)" and "Nutriment (Oja)" Whatever is characterized by hardness is the "earth-element (Patawi)"; by cohesion or fluidity, the "water-element (Apo)"; by heating, the "fire-element (Thejo)"; by strengthening or supporting, the "wind-element (Wayo)". What is the color? It is "blue," "yellow," "yellow," and various colours. What is "Odor"? It is the smell. "Rasa" is the taste, and still, you don't know about "Oja (Nutriment)". The original/pure eight (Shuddhashtaka) is made from the collection of these minimal constituent parts/qualities that cannot be broken down or divided. The lifetime of this original/pure eight (Shuddhashtakaya) is seventeen consciousness-moments ("Chithth-kkhana). Last week, we learned that this is living seventeen more times than the mind (Sitha). The mind (Sitha) has the smallest lifetime in the world. "Duran Gaman, Eka Charan." " Asareeran, Guhasayan". The mind (Sitha) does not have a body, and we cannot draw it. But, I'm drawing it to teach you. What is the Pali term for "mind" (Sitha)? It is named "Vinnana" (Consciousness) in Pali. There are some other names as "Chittaya", and "Mana". Why does it have so many names? I already told you about Disna Akka in our village. "Disna" got a chance to go to London. Now everyone calls her "London Diana."  When she was returning to Sri Lanka, she could not remember some Sinhalese terms. Now people call her "Posh Disna."  She went "Saudi", and now she is "Saudi Disna". Diana's name changed according to the place she lived. As same as that example, mind (Sitha) also gets changed as per its activities. So, patrons, the lifetime of a mind (Sithaka) is one "Consciousness-moment (Chithth-kkhanayak)". It has three main occasions as "birth", "living", and "death". "Birth" is "Uppada (Genetic)", "Living" is "Thithi (Static)", and "Death" is "Bhanga (Dissolving)". These three occasions are equivalent to one "Consciousness-moment (Chithth-kkhanayak)". So, this is what I taught you in the second week. We don't need to take that example of "Disna" in our village. If we think about you all, do you behave the way you do now at home? No. As an example, there is a different mind (Sitha) when you are observing Sil, going to a wedding, going on a trip to Singapore, and listening to Abhidharmaya. You now have a different mind (Sithak) than the mind (Sith) you had when you were participating on those other occasions. Like we are changing our lives from place to place, our mind (Sitha) also gets changed. That is why it has many names. Though there are many names, we call it "Sitha" in the "Sinhala" language. It is "Sitha" though it is named as "Vinnana", "Chittaya", or "Mana". "Sitha" has the smallest lifetime in the world. How many times does a mind (Sitha) get up for one eye blink? It is thousands of billions of times. It is the 12th power of 10. Our mind (Sitha) gets birthed and passes away/disappears ("Niruddha") for lakhs of billions of times during one eye blink. But why can't we see that? Because of the high speed it travels at, we cannot see it. Today you will understand why you cannot see it. We learned that the smallest unit among the material things lives in seventeen "Consciousness-moments (Chithth-kkhana)". We know that this entire earth is a collection of "Original/Pure eight" (Shudhdhashtaka)". There are higher degrees of "Earth-element (Patawi)" in the "Original/Pure eight (Shudhdhashtaka)" of this earth. An ocean is a huge water beam. There are higher degrees of "Water-element (Apo)" in the "Original/Pure eight (Shudhdhashtaka)" of the ocean. There are higher degrees of "Wind-element (Wayo)" in the "Original/Pure eight (Shudhdhashtaka)" of the wind. There are higher degrees of "Fire-element (Thejo)" in the "Original/Pure eight (Shudhdhashtaka)" of the fire. Therefore, patrons, all those things are made by small units. However, we cannot see that. We see a house, the earth, a sun, a moon, etc. That is how we see things. That view, then, is similar to the way the bird looked at the dummy human image. That's what we see. Furthermore, Lord Buddha was searching for universal truths among the material objects. Furthermore, when Lord Buddha was searching, the purpose of the universe was caught-in-attention by some kind of nature like this. "Drawing a picture". That is called the "eye". This is made up of a collection of "Original/Pure eight" (Suddhashtaka)". An eye is a collection of "Original/Pure eight" (Suddhashtaka)". Lord Buddha sees something like this in the eye, and it is a one-half portion of a "Mun" seed. This is made by the Original/Pure Eight ("Suddhashtaka"). ‘Earth-element (Patawi)’, ‘Water-element (Apo)’, ‘Fire-element (Thejo)’, ‘Wind-element (Wayo)’... So, patrons, on top of these "Original/Pure eight (Suddhashtaka)", there are seven layers of "Original/Pure eight (Suddhashtaka)" which consist of different compositions from each other. How many layers? There are seven layers. This chalk stick, this microphone, and my arm are made by "Original/Pure Eight." (Suddhashtaka)". But the The hardness of the microphone is higher than my arm, and the chalk stick has less hardness than my arm. If we take this duster, then how many different compositions are there here now? There is the duster, mike, chalk stick, and arm. There are four things. Lord Buddha perceived that there are seven layers of "Original/Pure eight" (Suddhashtaka)" which consist of different compositions from each other. Lord Buddha sees oil on top of those seven layers. It has the nature of a mirror. That oil is only above those layers. Patrons, what kind of nature, it have? It has the nature of a mirror.

What is the quality of a mirror? It has polish (Opaya). Once my mother came home from abroad, she looked at her image when she passed the mirror every time. Once she went out, she also looked at her image by taking a mirror out of her bag. We check whether the appearance is good or not via a mirror. I hope these mothers don't keep a mirror in their handbags. What is the quality of a mirror? It is polished. This polish shows you a beautiful shadow (chayawa). If the polish is good, then the mirror is also good. If it is not good, then the mirror is also not good. This oil gives the nature of a mirror. It spreads to the Pure Eights (Suddhashtaka). It remains there in a small portion, like a half of a "Mun" seed. Lord Buddha preached this word (Opaya) as "Prasadaya" in the "Pali" language. So, where does this mirror exist? Is it in the eye, Ear, tongue, nose, or body? It exists in the eye. The eye is named "Chakkhu" in the "Pali" language. Therefore, it is named "Chakkhu Prasadaya" in the "Pali" language. It means a mirror in the eye. Lord Buddha sees another thing that exists in the small portion, like a half of a "Mun" seed. It is another universal truth. It is not the "Earth-element (Patawi)", "Water-element (Apo)", "Fire-element (Thejo)", "Wind-element (Wayo)", "Warna (Colors)", "Odor (Gandha)", "Rasa (Taste)", or "Oja (Nutriment)" . It is called "Chakku-Prasadaya". It is a universal truth that cannot be broken down or divided. No one can affect it. So, patrons, another friend is born along with him here. It is born when the "Chakku-Prasada" is born. This is the same as "Oja (Nutriment)", and I can just tell its name as it takes a couple of weeks to explain it. Its name is "Jeewitha-Roopaya (Life-Corporeality)". Lord Buddha sees that all the times this birth occurs when "Chakku-Prasada" births. It is another universal truth that differs from the pure eight. It's called "Jeewitha-Roopaya (Life-Corporeality)", and I taught it in the 26th session of another class. In here, you could listen to its details early. So, patrons, Lord Buddha sees that there are ten universal truths in the eye. How many? There are ten. What are those ten? "Earth-element (Patawi-dhatuwa)", "Water-element (Apo-dhatuwa)", "Fire-element (Thejo-dhatuwa)", "Wind-element (Wayo-dhatuwa)", "Colors (Warna)", "Odor (Gandha)", "Taste (Rasa)" and "Nutriment (Oja)", "Chakku-Prasada", and "Jeewitha-Roopaya (Life-Corporeality)". Ten different universal truths that cannot be broken or divided are here. What is number ten called in the "Pali" language? It is called "Dashaka". The eye is named "Chakkhu" in the "Pali" language. Universal truths are known as "Kalapa" in the "Pali" language. Therefore, the common name given is "Chakku-Dashaka-Kalapaya". How do you name a physical place where it consists of eight universal truths? It is called "Original/Pure eight (Suddhashtaka)". How do you call 10 universal truths ("Dharmatha") which exist in the eye? It is called "Chakku-Dashaka-Kalapaya". Lord Buddha preached that "Chakku-Dashaka-Kalapaya" is a place in this universe where ten universal truths have gathered up. These details that Lord Buddha found 2600 years ago have been identified by scientists. It is not the ball of the eye. They found that there is such a thing as nature, and it consists of a few layers. They called it "Dhrushti Withanaya", as I remembered. This "Dhrusti Withanaya" has a kind of a different nature from the eye-ball. The scientists said that light is focusing here. It is not false, and it is true. But Lord Buddha could identify the existence of these ten universal truths, not the eye-ball, without using any tool before 2600 years back. Now you all can see it via a picture. The things that scientists have captured Here, you can see a place where the light has gathered up. There are seven different layers. The things that scientists revealed here are correct, patrons. It is not false. But in one place, they were wrong. They connected this to the brain. They could not identify the actions taken by the brain. They were wrong by connecting this to the brain. But, the explanation done up to that point is correct. You all will identify why they have gone wrong before the end of this class. In the end, you will know where it went wrong. Time is not enough to answer some questions today. Keep this in your mind. So, they are correct up to that point. After that point, the eye is moving in a range that cannot be found by them. Furthermore, when Lord Buddha was caught-in-attention for universal truths, he saw universal truths in another place, and it is like this. What do you call this? Ear. Can you see this as an ear? What is this made of? It is made up of a collection of "Original/Pure eight" (Suddhashtaka)". Just touch it and see whether you can feel its hardness. Lord Buddha identified another universal truth here, though this is made by a collection of "Original/Pure eight (Suddhashtaka)". Once you press the finger in the hole of the ear, it just kind of revolves around here, like this. In science, it is called "Karna Sankaya". This is made by "Original/Pure eight (Suddhashtaka)". It's made by "Earth-element (Patawi-dhatuwa)", "Water-element (Apo-dhatuwa)", "Fire-element (Thejo-dhatuwa)", "Wind-element (Wayo-dhatuwa)", "Colors (Warna)", "Odor (Gandha)", "Taste (Rasa)" and "Nutriment (Oja)". The Buddha preached that this place is like the shape of a snail, and there is something like a ring. Even though this is made of "Original/Pure eight (Suddhashtaka)", there are fibres inside this ring. What does are there, patrons? There are fibers. There are copper-colored fibers. That is how Lord Buddha preached this. Lord Buddha identified a mirror on top of these fibers. What is that, patrons? It is a mirror. It is not the mirror in the eye. There is a separate mirror here. "Polish" is the quality of a mirror. "Prasadaya" is the "Pali" term for this polish ("Opaya"). So, where does this mirror exist? It is in the ear, not in the eye. "Prasadaya" is the "Pali" term for the ear. Lord Buddha identified another universal truth, and it is called "Sotha Prasadaya."  There is another universal truth. It is called "Life-Corporeality(Jeewitha-Roopaya)".

You will understand it later, though it is not clear for the moment. So, patrons, Lord Buddha identified copper-colored fibers in this circle. There is a mirror on top of that. There are eight universal truths. Therefore, there are ten, including "Sotha Prasadaya" and "Life-Corporeality(Jeewitha-Roopaya)". What is number ten called in the "Pali" language? It is called "Dashaka". Ear names as "Sotha" in the "Pali" language. Universal truths are known as "Kalapa" in the "Pali" language. Therefore, the common name given is "Sotha-Dashaka-Kalapaya". You don't need to keep these terms in mind. Understand. "Sotha-Dashaka-Kalapaya" is the term used for ten universal truths in the ear. "Chakkhu-Dashaka-Kalapaya" is the term used for ten universal truths in the eye. So, patrons, Lord Buddha revealed something about copper-colored fibres 2600 years back. The scientists identified this after working on many investigations. It is like this and there is no other identification. "Explaining the picture of the ear."  The scientists also identified something special in these fibres, other than the ear lobe and the circle area. Lord Buddha identified that place as where it gathered up ten universal truths. We call it "Original/Pure eight (Suddhashtaka")" when there are eight. The ten truths are gathered up in the eye called "Chakku-Dashaka-Kalapaya". The ten truths gathered up in the ear called "Sotha-Dashaka-Kalapaya". Now we know both the ear and eye. What is the next thing after ears and eyes? It is the nose. What made up this nose? It is made of "Earth-element (Patawi-dhatuwa)", "Water-element (Apo-dhatuwa)", "Fire-element (Thejo-dhatuwa)", "Wind-element (Wayo-dhatuwa)", "Colours (Warna)", "Odor (Gandha)", "Taste (Rasa)" and "Nutriment (Oja)". There is blood in the nose. The blood consists of more "Water-element (Apo-dhatuwa)". The entire nose is a collection of "Original/Pure eight" (Suddhashtaka)". Lord Buddha preached that there is a spot like a goat's hoof, once you press the finger inside the nose's hole. Here also, it consists of a collection of "Original/Pure eight (Suddhashtaka)". In that place, there is something like oil, and it has the nature of a mirror. What is the quality of a mirror? It is polished. "Prasadaya" is the "Pali" term for this polish ("Opaya"). So, does this "prasadaya" exist in the eye, ear, or nose? It exists in the nose. "Gaana" is the "Pali" term for the nose. That mirror does not exist in either eye or ear. It exists in the nose, and that mirror is called "Gaana Prasadaya". This also births along with "Life-Corporeality(Jeewitha-Roopaya)". Therefore, patrons, there are ten universal truths here, including "Gaana Prasadaya" and "Life-Corporeality(Jeewitha-Roopaya)". What is number ten called in the "Pali" language? It is called "Dashaka". Nose names are "Gaana" in the "Pali" language. Universal truths are known as "Kalapa" in the "Pali" language. Therefore, the common name given is "Gaana-Dashaka-Kalapaya". "Chakkhu-Dashaka-Kalapaya" is the term used for ten universal truths gathered up in the eye. "Sotha-Dashaka-Kalapaya" is the term used for ten universal truths gathered up in the ear. "Gaana-Dashaka-Kalapaya" is the term used for ten universal truths. gathered up in the nose. So, patrons, Lord Buddha revealed about the spot like a goat's hoof 2600 years back. The things that scientists identified are also correct here. Their identification is also not false. But, in one place, they were wrong. They connected this to the brain. Let's see whether we can teach about it today or not. So, the tongue comes to the next. What made up this tongue? It is made of "Earth-element (Patawi-dhatuwa)", "Water-element (Apo-dhatuwa)", "Fire-element (Thejo-dhatuwa)", "Wind-element (Wayo-dhatuwa)", "Colors (Warna)", "Odor (Gandha)", "Taste (Rasa)" and "Nutriment (Oja)". It is a collection of the "Original/Pure eight (Suddhashtaka)". The Lord Buddha identified mirrors on top of this tongue. It is not the mirrors in your homes. There is polish ("Opaya") on top of the tongue. Those mirrors have not spread all over the tongue. They spread from place to place, near to each other. Have you seen a lotus flower? There are things like flowers' stamens in this tongue, and these mirrors exist in those places. Or else it's something like the roots of onions. It's like that. Those things are made up of the "Original/Pure eight (Suddhashtaka)". There are things like flowers' stamens in this tongue, and these mirrors exist in those places. What is the quality of a mirror? It is polished. "Prasadaya" is the "Pali" term for this polish ("Opaya"). So, does this "prasadaya" exist in the eye, ear, or nose? It is in the tongue. "Jiwha" is the "Pali" term of the tongue. That mirror does not exist in either eye, ear or nose. It exists in the tongue, and that mirror is called "Gaana Prasadaya". "Life-Corporeality(Jeewitha-Roopaya) is its ruling doctrine. Don't think about it for the moment, and I will explain it to you later. Therefore, patrons, there are ten universal truths here, including "Jiwha Prasadaya" and "Life-Corporeality(Jeewitha-Roopaya)". What is number ten called in the "Pali" language? It is called "Dashaka". tongue named "Jiwha" in the "Pali" language. Universal truths are known as "Kalapa" in the "Pali" language. Therefore, the common name given is "Jiwha-Dashaka-Kalapaya".The tongue is our greedy thing. See, there are some dots on the tongue? So, patrons, do not those look like the stamens of a lotus flower? If we take a closer picture, does it not look like the back of the onion? It is like this. There are ten universal truths, and the scientists also revealed that those spread over the tongue

Therefore, patrons, there are ten universal truths in the tongue also. "Chakkhu-Dashaka-Kalapaya" is the term used for ten universal truths in the eye. "Sotha-Dashaka-Kalapaya" is the term used for ten universal truths in the ear. "Gaana-Dashaka-Kalapaya" is the term used for ten universal truths in the nose. "Jiwha-Dashaka-Kalapaya" is the term used for ten universal truths in the tongue. I don't know how to draw human bodies. This is how I draw, and it looks like a paralyzed human. He has two ears. He has two eyes and a nose. He smiles. Inside that, there is a tongue. So, patrons, what does this entire body consist of? It is a collection of the "Original/Pure eight (Suddhashtaka)". This person has hair on his head and arms. If we look at his arm, there are nails also. The rest of the body is made up of "Earth-element (Patawi-dhatuwa)", "Water-element (Apo-dhatuwa)", "Fire-element (Thejo-dhatuwa)", "Wind-element (Wayo-dhatuwa)", "Colors (Warna)", "Odor (Gandha)", "Taste (Rasa)" and "Nutriment (Oja)" except "Chokkhu-Dashaka-Kalapaya" in the eye. Lord Buddha, identified a large mirror on top of this "Original/Pure eight (Suddhashtaka)", and it is like putting oil on cotton. It does not exist in either "Chakkhu-Dashaka-Kalapaya" in the eye or "Sotha-Dashaka-Kalapaya" in the ear. There is a large mirror in the body, and it is like putting oil on cotton. It exists in the entire body. "Kaaya" is the "Pali" term for the body. It is a mirror in the body. What is the quality of a mirror? It is polished. "Prasadaya" is the "Pali" term for this polish ("Opaya"). Therefore, "Kaaya-Prasadaya" is the name of that mirror. "Life-Corporeality(Jeewitha-Roopaya)" is its ruling doctrine, and it births along with it. These are doctrines that are born and pass away. So, patrons, this nature, like putting oil on cotton, does not exist in hair and nails. But it exists in the teeth. Therefore, hair does not consist of those ten doctrines. It is made by "Original/Pure eight (Suddhashtaka)". Nails do not also consist of those ten doctrines. But it exists in the rest of the body from top to bottom. This mirror spreads all over the body, including the brain, lungs, liver, the veins, etc. See this picture. It spreads all over the body with a nature like putting oil on cotton, except in the places that do not feel it. These details would be available in the book with some pictures. The things found by scientists can be taken via the internet also. What did the Lord Buddha preach about the ten doctrines in the eye? It is called "Chokkhu-Dashaka-Kalapaya". The ten doctrines in the ear are called "Sotha-Dashaka-Kalapaya". The ten doctrines in the nose are called "Gana-Dashaka-Kalapaya". The ten doctrines in the tongue are called "Jiwa-Dashaka-Kalapaya". The ten doctrines in the body are called "Jiwa-Dashaka-Kalapaya". However, there's no need to remember these things. So, patrons, here we are drawing a rose flower. It is okay, right? I will add some petals. What is this rose flower made up of? It is made up of the "Original/Pure eight (Suddhashtaka)". What does the "Original/Pure eight (Suddhashtaka)" have? It consists of "Earth-element (Patawi)" , "Water-element (Apo)", "Fire-element (Thejo)", "Wind-element (Wayo)", "Colors(Warna)", "Odor (Gandha)", "Taste (Rasa)", or "Nutriment (Oja)". It consists of the groups of these eight doctrines. So, there is a nice blue colored eye. This eye is made up of "Original/Pure eight (Suddhashtaka)". What does exist in the place where it has ten doctrines, in a one-half portion of a "Mun" seed? It is "Chakkhu-Dashaka-Kalapaya". So, patrons, now this rose flower gets hit in this mirror. What happens now? You can see a rose flower. Now it is all right. There is a rose flower now. The eye that has "Corporeal-group (Dashaka -kalapaya)" also open now. But there is no light. Can you see the rose flower now? No. There should be light also, and you can see the rose flower when there is light. So, now you are sleeping by opening your eyes. The lights were also switched on. There is a rose flower also. Can you see the rose flower now? No, you cannot see it as you are sleeping. Why cannot you see the Rose flower in that case? So, patrons, there is no point, though there is a rose flower, a light, or an open eye, if this person is not available. You cannot see it without "immaterial energy" (Arupiya Shakthiya). What do you mean by "Arupi"? There is no "corporeality (Rupa)". Are you able to capture something that does not have "corporeality" (Rupa)? No. You cannot. That is why it is called "immature energy" (Arupiya Shakthiya). So, patrons, "Mind (Sitha)" is the name of this "immaterial energy" (Arupiya Shakthiya). What is the "Pali" term for "Mind (Sitha)"? It is called "Vinnana". Therefore, "Vinnana" needs to be there. So, did this "Vinnana" come to the ear, tongue, or eye? It came to the eye. What is the "Pali" term for the eye? It is called "Chakku". So, it's called "Chakku-Vinnana" for that "immaterial energy" (Arupiya Shakthiya). The rose flower can be seen if "Chakku-Vinnana" comes there. Otherwise, patrons, you cannot see it. Sometimes, when we are thinking deeply about something, though there are many flowers in front of us, we cannot see them. Now, there are some rose flowers here. Have you seen it before? Why did not you see that? You cannot see things if there is no "immaterial energy" (Arupiya Shakthiya), though the shadow (Chayawa) hits the mirror. Now, there is an eye. What is this rose flower made of? It is made up of "Earth-element (Patawi)" , "Water-element (Apo)", "Fire-element (Thejo)", "Wind-element (Wayo)", "Colors(Warna)", "Odor (Gandha)", "Taste (Rasa)", or "Nutriment (Oja)". Can you see the nature of hardness, flowing, burning, or motion in this rose flower? Or can your eyes see, smell, or taste? No. You cannot. What can you see? You can only see the color of the rose flower. You can see only the color, even though there are eight doctrines in the rose flower. You cannot see anything apart from the color, even if you went to America and saw rose flowers. You can use anything instead of the rose flower. You can see nothing other than that. One of my friends told me a story like this. You are preaching about heaven as you see it. I did not believe it until I saw it. He said that he would not believe it until he saw it with his own eyes. So, what can I say to him? I said,

"Antho Jata, Bahi Jata". It is taking three weeks to teach this. So, I taught these things to him. Then I asked him to tell me if there was any other thing that could be seen via the eye except the colour. Do you see anything in this world other than colour? You cannot see another thing other than colour, though you went to America or heaven. So, patrons, do your eyes prove the things in this world? The eyes can prove the colour. I cannot prove the hardness. The eye is a weak object. You can see the colour only. You cannot see anything other than the colour, though you went on anywhere in this universe. So, patrons, do we see it because of the availability of the eye, flower, or "(Vinnana)"? We could see it because of the availability of all three. What is the "Sinhala" term for "Vinnana"? It is "Sitha."  How long is its lifetime? It is one "Consciousness-moment (Chithth-kkhanayak)". Even though we saw a flower, it is passing away at that moment itself. It is not a good thing to take home. If you see something, you just saw it. Nothing beyond that. So, it is like this, and there are many incidents of the things seen. I'll tell you one. Let's say that one of your friends sees that your husband is talking with a nice girl. Then she asked you to pay attention to your husband. It is suspicious of her, and she implies a relationship between them. So, patrons, what can you see here? You can see the colour of that person. But that lady is the one who built up that story. So, patrons, you cannot believe everything you see, because you can see only the color. But if you see that color regularly, then there is something suspicious. So, patrons, the ear comes next. The rose flower is also available as it is. The other thing is, patrons, do blind people have eyes? Yes. They also have. But what don't they have? They do not have a mirror half the size of a "Mun" seed. That means they do not have "Chokkhu-Dashaka-Kalapaya". Therefore, they cannot see. So, patrons, there is no point in having the eyeball, if this mirror does not exist there. The blind people have the eyeball. But they cannot see. But if that mirror exists and if there is a block to prevent the light from coming, then doctors can get the vision via surgery. For "Vinnana" to come, there should be a shadow (Chayawa). However, scientists do not know about "Vinnana". They would find out that they were misled. Except for a Lord Buddha, they could not imagine a "Vinnana" that does not have a "Corporeality (Rupa)". The other thing is, the lifetime of the "Vinnana" is one "Consciousness-moment (Chithth-kkhanayak)". It comes and disappears quickly in one eye-blink. Therefore, patrons, that is why they linked it to the brain. The brain's duty is a different thing. It is a separate long story. But if the light goes in the wrong direction, then the light can be focused via the spectacles. But if that mirror does not exist, then it does not work, as "Chakku-Vinnana" does not have a home to come back to. I hope you understood it. So, patrons, it cannot be given by doctors. They cannot set up the "Chakku-Dashaka-Kalapaya". It's about the *Karmaya of the "Life-Corporeality (Jeewitha-Roopaya)". *Action or volitional activities" is the cosmic law of cause and effect. Therefore, this cannot be given, and anything can be done if this exists only. So, next, there is the ear. This is an ear that has "Dashaka-Kalapa" apart from the ear lobe. So, what is the name of the "Corporeal-group (Dashaka-Kalapaya)" in the ear? It is called "Sotha-"Dashaka-Kalapa". So, the eye catches the color. What does the ear catch? Does the ear catch "Earth-element (Patawi-dhatuwa)"? Can you see the nature of hardness, flowing, or burning, in this ear? Can you listen to the motion from the ear? Can the ear see colors? No. It cannot. Can the ear feel the smell, taste, or "Nutriment (Oja)"? So, what does the ear catch? The color catches by the eye. See this. What do you hear now? It is the sound. What is my arm made up of? It is made by "Original/Pure eight (Shudhdhashtaka)". It consists of "Earth-element (Patawi)" , "Water-element (Apo)", "Fire-element (Thejo)", "Wind-element (Wayo)", "Colors(Warna)", "Odor (Gandha)", "Taste (Rasa)", or "Nutriment (Oja)". What is my board made of? It is made by "Earth-element (Patawi)" , "Water-element (Apo)", "Fire-element (Thejo)", "Wind-element (Wayo)", "Colors(Warna)", "Odor (Gandha)", "Taste (Rasa)", or "Nutriment (Oja)". The sound is the "Corporeality (Rupa)" occurring via the conflict of two "Original/Pure eight" (Shudhdhashtaka)". Therefore, the universal truth is born upon the conflict of two materials made by "Original/Pure eight (Shudhdhashtaka)", also known as the Sound. This is born from the conflict of two materials. Hear this. A sound is born. The shadow of that sound gets hit here. So, can we hear it now? Can we hear it once the sound's shadow hits here? So, now there is the ear and sound also. But we are sleeping. Can we hear it now? You got the point and understood, right? You cannot hear things if there is no "immature energy" (Arupiya Shakthiya). Once this shadow gets hit here, the "immature energy" (Arupiya Shakthiya) called the "Mind" (Sitha), is born on behalf of this shadow. The lifetime of the "Mind (Sitha)" is one "Consciousness-moment (Chithth-kkhanayak)". What is the "Pali" term for the "Mind (Sitha)"? It is called "Vinnana". So, this "Vinnana" is born in the "Corporeal-group (Dashaka-Kalapa") of the ear, not in the eye. What is the "Pali" term for the ear? It is called "Sotha."  So, this "Mind (Sitha)" born in the ear called the "Sotha-Vinnana", is born in a house called "Sotha-Dashaka-Kalapa". Then we say we heard the sound. What can you hear when somebody slaps your ear? You can hear the reverberation. Both the ear and arm are made by "Original/Pure eights (Suddhashtaka)". So, "Sotha-Vinnana" can hear the sound. We called her "Sotha-Vinnana" for the "Mind (Sitha)" when we got to know that a sound had hit. There was a person who had a meditated life after hearing about Lord Buddha. He did not have clothes to wear, and he wore wood. He got to know the presence of Lord Buddha. Once he listened to the word "Buddha", he searched for Lord Buddha by visiting many villages. Most of the At At that time, Lord Buddha had come to another village when he was reaching there. He searched for three months. He was called by others "Darucheeriya" as he wore wood. One morning, Lord Buddha was going for alms. "Darucheeriya" identified Lord Buddha by looking at his appearance. How does the look ("Rupa Kaya") of Lord Buddha change? Lord Buddha had blue eyes like a calf. Lord Buddha had a flat foot at the bottom line. Lord Buddha had forty teeth. He saw a great appearance that consisted of thirty-two great characteristics of Lord Buddha. He worshipped Lord Buddha and kindly asked to teach the "Dhamma" that Lord Buddha perceived. At that time, Lord Buddha was going for alms. Therefore, Lord Buddha said to him that it is not appropriate to preach a sermon when going for alms. But "Darucheeriya" said that we didn't know who would go to death first. Therefore, please preach to me the "dhamma" that you perceive. At that time, Lord Buddha caught-in-attention the remaining lifetime of "Darucheeriya", and identified that he had limited time to live. So, "Darucheeriya," I'll explain it to you as a summary. He also agreed and said that it was enough to explain it as a summary. So, keep it in your mind in this way. "Ditte dhitta maththan". If you see something, you just saw it. There is nothing beyond that. There is a rose flower and an eye. It hits on the "Chakku-Vinnana". How long does it live? There is only one Consciousness-moment ("Chithth-kkhanayak). So, if you see something, you just saw it. If you see the universal truth as it is in that way, you won't exist in this world and in "Paralowa" (world after death). Darucheeriya, "Sutha Sutha Maththan".

If you hear something, you just heard it. If you hear the universal truth as it is in that way, you won't exist in this world and "Paralowa" (world after death). So, patrons, how long does "Vinnana" live? There is only one Consciousness-moment ("Chithth-kkhanayak). We know the sound via the "Vinnana". It gets divided into "genetic" (Uppada), "static" (Thiti), and "dissolving"(Bhanga). So, if you hear something, you just heard it. That's the truth. Isn't it? Lord Buddha preached that, if you hear the universal truth as it is in that way, you won't exist in this world and "Paralowa" (world after death). He followed that way to hear it. So, what do your husband's lips and tongue make up of? It is made by "Earth-element (Patawi)" , "Water-element (Apo)", "Fire-element (Thejo)", "Wind-element (Wayo)", "Colors(Warna)", "Odor (Gandha)", "Taste (Rasa)", or "Nutriment (Oja)". So, using these three, he said that "you are a foolish woman."  In such an incident, "Sound Corporeality" (Shabdha Rupa) gets birth. At that time, it hits on the wife's "Sotha-Dashaka-Kalapaya" and is born "Sotha-Vinnana". Then she gets angry with him and leaves him. The husband wanted to make her uncomfortable for that moment only. But still, she is acting like a fool. However, the "Sound-Corporeality" (Shabda Rupa) disappeared at that instance, even though she kept it in her mind for a long time. Later on, let's see why it happens that way. Lord Buddha asked Darucheeriya, "If you hear something, you just heard it." If you hear the universal truth as it is in that way, you won't exist in this world and "Paralowa" (world after death)." But it is not our case, and an extra thing happens for us. Later on, let's see what it is.so that and what happens? This nose consists of "Gana-Dashaka-Kalapa". There is a bouquet of jasmine flowers like this. So, when the flowers are here like this, it births "Original/Pure eight (Suddhashtaka)" which consists of the smell by getting mixed up with "Wind-element (Wayo-dhatuwa). So, what happens now, when those "Original/Pure eight (Suddhashtaka)" hit here? So, the "immature energy" (Arupiya Shakthiya) called the "Mind (Sitha)" is birthing here. "Vinnna" is the "Pali" term for "Sitha", and this "Sitha" is born in the nose. "Gana" is the "Pali" term for "nose". Therefore, the "Sitha" used to identify the smell is called "Gana-Vinnana". So, what do we call the "Sitha," which is used to see things? It is "Chakku-Vinnana". "Sotha-Vinnana" is the "Sitha", used to hear the sound. "Gana-Vinnana" is the "Sitha", used to identify the smell. So, a "Sitha" gives birth here. So, the lifetime of a "mind" (Sitha) is only one Consciousness-moment ("Chithth-kkhanayak). If you feel the smell of something, you just feel it. If you feel it as it is in that way, you won't exist in this world and "Paralowa" (world after death). Can you feel the smell of something that you felt in your childhood? No. But can you not remember that smell? Yes. Still, you can remember the smell. Later on, let's see why does it keep like that. So, who comes next? See this, patrons. Who captures the "smell"? It is done by the nose. So, who comes next? The next is the tongue. It is a greedy thing. It consists of "Jiwha-Dashaka-Kalapaya". I'm drawing the meal that is available for tomorrow's alms. It consists of several curries with a soft drink. Does spitting come to your mouth? So, there is a food plate here. So, what is this food made up of? It is made by "Original/Pure eight"(Suddhashtakaya). It consists of "Earth-element (Patawi)" , "Water-element (Apo)", "Fire-element (Thejo)", "Wind-element (Wayo)", "Colors(Warna)", "Odor (Gandha)", "Taste (Rasa)", or "Nutriment (Oja)". So, can the tongue see the food? Is there a nature of hardness or burning here? If you eat something hot, then there will be a burn. It is something else. So, what does this tongue feel like? There is no point in the food being kept in other places in this case. A few foodstuffs need to be put on this tongue. So, what happens once it stays on the tongue? Then you can feel it. So, now we are watching television and having a meal. In the meantime, we are having a phone conversation too. What happens? Watching television, having a meal, and talking with a friend... The televised drama is over, and can you remember that you had your meal? Why? What happened? At that time, "Jiwha-Vinnana" did not come into being, and you just had your meal like a crocodile eats clay. You can feel the taste of food well when you have your meal consciously. At that time, "immature energy" (Arupiya shakthiya) gets generated. What do we call that? We call it "mind" (Sitha). So, patrons, from where did that "mind" (Sitha) come in? It came out of the tongue. What is the "Pali" term for the tongue? It's called "Jiwha". The "Pali" term for "Sitha" is "Vinnana". How long does "Vinnana" live? There is only one Consciousness-moment ("Chithth-kkhanayak). It gets divided into "genetic" (Uppada), "static" (Thiti), and "dissolving"(Bhanga). So, if you feel the taste of something, you just felt the taste of it. If you feel the taste as it is in that way, you won't exist in this world and "Paralowa" (world after death). But Patrons, do we follow that? We are searching for a shop where we had our meals earlier. The reason is that it is not just a taste for us. There is something beyond that. Later on, let's see that. Therefore, patrons, the "Chakku-Vinnana" is the "Mind" (Sitha) that cognizes the color. Therefore, patrons, the "Sotha-Vinnana" is the "Mind" (Sitha) that cognizes the sound. Therefore, patrons, the "Gana-Vinnana" is the "Mind" (Sitha) that cognizes the smell. Therefore, patrons, the "Jiwha-Vinnana" is the "Mind" (Sitha) that cognizes the taste. We know that there is a brain and a tongue for dead people also. But why do they not feel it once we put food on their tongue? They don't have "mind" (Sitha). That is the reason. Therefore, it is not feeling the taste of the food through the brain. Or else you can feed the dead people as well. So, what is next? It is the body that cannot be drawn here. He has eyes, a tongue, a nose, and ears. See, patrons. The tongue captures the taste. The eye captures the color. The ear captures the sound. The nose captures the smell. So, what do you feel in the body? It is called "Feeling the sensation" (Pahasa widinawa). What is "Sensation" (Pahasa)? That is "Touch" (Sparsha). What is "Touch" (Sparsha)? Most people got to know it in that way. Via the DVDs, you know about "Chakku-Vinnana" now. But earlier, when I was asking about it, most of the people did not know about it. They did not know the word "Chakku-Vinnana", and did not know the reason for the name "Chakku-Vinnana". They did not know where it was born. But there were many who listened to sermons for ten to fifteen years. Once asked about "Vinnna", they easily gave the names "Sotha," "Jiwha", "Gana", etc. but did not know the meaning of the words. They asked for me. So, patrons, I told you my marks for maths. I was thirteen when I was in Grade ten. Because of that poor knowledge, I went to a maths tuition class. Then the teacher asked me to come for a few classes, including grade nine, ten, and revision class. So, he taught me from the very beginning, and I had to solve many math problems per day. One day, the teacher drew three circles like this and divided them among three people. Then he asked us to draw it without using any tools. But I did not listen to him, and I used a tool to draw it. So, he saw that and hit me. He had a devil arm and it was like this. What is this hand made up of? It's made by "Earth-element (Patawi)" , "Water-element (Apo)", "Fire-element (Thejo)", "Wind-element (Wayo)", "Colors(Warna)", "Odor (Gandha)", "Taste (Rasa)", or "Nutriment (Oja)". Where did his hand get hit? It hit the head. So, what do you feel now? Is there a hardness or do you feel like it burns you? There is a hardness. If so, what is that? The "immaterial" (Arupi) power that comes here, cognates the hardness. It catches "Earth-element" (Patawi-dhatuwa). I felt the hardness of the teacher's arm on that day. So, patrons, this "immaterial" (Arupi) power came to the body. "Kaya" is the "Pali" term for the body, and "Vinnana" is the "Pali" term for "mind" (Sitha). To get to know the hardness is called "Kaya-Vinnana". So, that is "Sparsha," and what do we know now? It's hard. Once you touch the hot water kettle by mistake, what do you feel now? It burns you. Therefore, "Kaya Vinnana" can get to know the nature of "fire" (Thejo) apart from its hardness. When you are inhaling your breath, you feel that your stomach is blooming. Therefore, "Kaya Vinnana" can get to know the nature of "wind" (Wayo). The "Vinnana" of the eye can discern the color only. The "Vinnana" of the ear can hear the sound only. The "Vinnana" of the nose can get to know the smell only. The "Vinnana" of the tongue can get to know the taste only. The "Vinnana" of the body can get to know the nature of hardness, fire/cold (Thejo), and wind (Wayo). Therefore, who is the most powerful "Vinnana" out of these five. It is the "Kaya Vinnana". It can recognize three universal truths. Those are "Earth-element" (Patawi-dhatuwa), "Fire-element" (Thejo-dhatuwa), and "Wind-element" (Wayo-dhatuwa). The eye cognizes only the color, the ear cognizes only the sound, the nose cognizes only the smell, and the tongue cognizes only the taste. The body cognizes the nature of hardness, fire/cold, and wind. Therefore, "Feeling the sensation" (Pahasa Daneema) is the name for all these three. That's why I told you. Even though you heard the word, you don't know about it. So, I will tell you another story that generated "Kaya Vinnana" in a memorable way. On that day, we finished the exams quickly and went to the ground to play. On those days, we did not work for marks, and before that, we just completed the exam paper and came out. We all went there to play and arranged for two friends to check whether the teachers were coming there. There were some others who saw the way we were playing. So, we continued our job well. But suddenly, a couple of teachers came to us, and they caught me as soon as they came. So, when they were asking about the rest of the guys, I told them that I didn't know about the others. After that response, the teacher hit me with a large stick. So, it was the second time that it generated the "Kaya Vinnana" at a reasonable time. However, there is no problem as the lifetime of "Kaya Vinnana" is one consciousness-moment ("Chithth-kkhanayak). Once you feel that, you just feel it. That's it. So, patrons, today we learned a lot of universal truths. Apart from the "Earth-element (Patawi)", "Water-element (Apo)", "Fire-element (Thejo)", "Wind-element (Wayo)".., Lord Buddha's great wisdom perceived the "Chakku-Prasadaya" in the eye, "Sotha Prasadaya" in the ear, "Gana Prasadaya" in the nose, "Jiwha prasada" in the tongue, and "Kaya prasada" in the body. Along with this, there was an unknown one called "Life-Corporeality (Jeewitha-Roopaya)". There are ten doctrines that exist in this small portion, like a half of a "Mun" seed in the eye. What are those ten? "Earth-element (Patawi)", "Water-element (Apo)", "Fire-element (Thejo)", "Wind-element (Wayo)", "Warna (Colors)", "Odor (Gandha)", "Rasa (Taste)", or "Oja (Nutriment)", "Chakku Prasadaya", and Life-Corporeality (Jeewitha-Roopaya)". That place is called "Chakku Dashaka Kalapaya". The ten doctrines exist in the ear called "Sotha Dashaka Kalapaya". The ten doctrines exist in the book called "Gana Dashaka Kalapaya". The ten doctrines exist in the tongue called "Jiwha Dashaka Kalapaya". The ten doctrines exist in the body called "Kaya Dashaka Kalapaya". So, patrons, where is the "mind" (Sitha) born? It is born in the eye, ear, nose, tongue, and body. Where was it born in this body? It is born in the entire body. It comes out in the foot when we are keeping the foot on the floor. It is born in the head when the teacher hits the head. It is born here when we touch it. Therefore, "mind" (Sitha) is born everywhere that has "prasada". When doing surgery, relevant anaesthesia The A A medicine is given to the patient, and it weakens the "Kaya Prasada". Then there is no way for "Vinnana" to know that. So, "Kaya Vinnana" does not give birth in that area of the body. Once I faced surgery on a finger, I also did not feel anything after giving medicine. But I felt unbearable pain once the power of that medicine was over. That's how "Vinnana" gets generated. But that was over in those instances. So, today, many "Vinannas" may be generated. The "Chakku Vinnana" is born in the eye. The "Sotha Vinnana" is born in the ear. The "Gana Vinnana" is born in the nose. "Jiwha Vinnana" is born in the tongue. The "Kaya Vinnana" is born in the body wherever there is "Kaya Prasada". I'll explain another story. A person is sitting on the chair by having his meal and he is in a phone call. The fan was also switched on. At that time, he knew that he was eating. He could hear the voice. He could feel the wind from the fan. How does it all go together? Does "Chakku Vinnana" get born at the same time as "Kaya-Vinnana" born? No? Is it? Does "Sotha Vinnana" get born at the time of "Chakku-Vinnana" born? So, how does he feel the smell, feel the taste, and see the things? How do we understand that? So, patrons, there is a circuit with six bulbs of the same color. Each bulb is connected to one circuit. The bulbs are switched on according to a certain command. One bulb is lighting per one minute. The other bulbs are lit every thirty seconds...ten seconds,...one second,....1/10s,....1/100s,...1/1000s Now we switch on the bulb that gets light per minute. So, that bulb is lighting up for a minute. Can we see that the rest of the five bulbs have switched off now or not? Cannot we see it when the switched on one is lighting for a minute? We can see that. If you cannot see that, then it is a weakness of your eyes. After that minute, we can see that the second bulb gets lit. Can we see that five bulbs are lit now? Yes, we can see. Likewise, patrons, we switch on the bulb for 1/10s. Now, the time duration that one bulb is lit is ten seconds. Now, can we see that the rest of the five bulbs have switched off? We can see that ten seconds is a reasonable time. Now we switch on the bulb for 1/100s. Now, how can we see that? It looks like it's coming and going. But only the bulb that was switched on for 1/100s is lit. Now we switch on the bulb for 1/1000s. At that time, we feel that all the bulbs are switching on. But for patrons, only one "Vinnana" is born by being caught-in-attention to the body at a particular time. "Duran gaman," "Eka charan."  It behaves alone. "Asriran gunasayan". I can tell you what the cave is in the next lesson. As the "mind" (Sitha) is that much at high speed, we feel it all at once, including eating, listening, watching, etc. But only one thing caught-in-attention will be known for a particular time. Understand that, and that's what we taught today.
